Hoping I get a new computer for christmas.

It might just happen, my suspicion is rising since yesterday when my mom said she was going to some stores for groceries, and she was going to best buy (where they have computers and Tvs and other electronic stuff) to get something (can't remember what it was).

But I'm thinking she secretly got me a new computer, I hope so :)

So last night I found myself putting Christmas trees made of stayputniks, Oscar bs, and trusses, all over the KSC for "luck", lol.

When I get home from school I'll place some all around the solar system.

Must.

Launch.

More.

Trees!

Fingers crossed. :)

So last night I was asking her about helping me get starbound, but apparently she "used up her credit card buying Christmas presents" when I said "you bought me a new computer didn't you" she quickly said no nd that she didn't have any money,

Lies...

Off topic: I'm getting starbound after Christmas :D

when I said "you bought me a new computer didn't you"

1. Stop being so greedy! :P

2. If she said "yes, now wait until christmas".. On christmas the gift wouldn't be as good..

3. Gifts are supposed to be a thoughtful exchange, not a monetary item.

4. You better be getting your mother a really nice gift yourself, it will mean more to her to see a thoughtful gift from you then the entire lifespan of your computer.

5. Seriously, get a thoughtful gift.

6. I really hope you do get the computer ;)

..I remember one year I thought the same thing was happening to me and it turned out I got something equally as awesome but completely different. I'm sure if I was being filmed my reaction to this sweet gift was probably disappointment upon first sight. Not disappointment because of the gift itself, but disappointed that "someone didn't buy me exactly want I wanted". I realized shortly after that is not a good mentality to have, it brings out poor judgement and values.

ps - I never thought "someone must buy this exact item for me", I just convinced myself that my mom had bought the item for me and her denial was a bluff. boy it sucked when I unwrapped it and she wasn't bluffing.

Okay now right after that my opinion of you changed.

Apparently you are the type of "kid" that thinks that money comes out of nowhere.

Now let me tell you something, if she had the money for a computer for you she would buy it, wouldnt she?

She isn't even obliged to buy you anything! It is just a pure act of kindness to revive you with gifts. Some children don't get any presents for Christmas, so don't be greedy. Once you get a job you will realize how hard it is to get money.

If you don't like your parents because they can't afford to buy you. A computer so you can play your little game then attempt at becoming Bill Gate's son :D

I once hoped she was bluffing but then I realized she didn't actually have the money. That's when my soul became bright and I stopped being greedy and was always happy during any holiday with any gift, even if it cost least than 20$

Thanks, gang! This thread makes me feel better about being an old fart. I bought myself a new KSP computer just 3 weeks back. A **** beast, too! I splurged on a high-end MSI gaming laptop. Way expensive, but I'm disabled and literally spend every waking minute in this chair at this laptop, so what the hell, right? :)

And if your parents can't afford a new PC, see if they'll go for a solid-state drive for your old one. Makes a big difference. For me, with lots o'mods, KSP starts in 1:20 from the SSD vs 3:30 from disk.

Merry Christmas, and good luck!

I do realize money doesnt come out of nowhere. And I know she doesn't have to buy me anything, and I'd be fine with that.

Ok we got to open our presents just now, because My dad has to work tommorow on Christmas, but...

Have I died and gone to heaven?

Does Intel core i3 processor, 6GB DDR3 Memory, 750GB hard drive, and windows 8 mean that lag is going byebye?

:D

Rest in peace, sleep.

Enjoy it and be aware that that is a huge gift. Did you get your parents something nice that took you some effort?

Did you get a laptop or a desktop?

Niiiice! The only bad (ish) thing is the i3. Although, I run BF4 at ultra using an i5 760 (4 cores, 2.8 GHz), 4GB DDR3 RAM, and a 660Ti. So hopefully you'll have lots of Whackjob moments.

Well, that i3 probably runs KSP better than your i5, as (depending on the model) it could well be faster per core. Since KSP only runs on a single thread (sort of), having four is no advantage. Having a newer generation Intel with a higher clock will mean better performance.

That being said, the venerable i5 760 is still a very capable processor.

i got them this little gumball like machine that you can put something like m and ms in and it spits some out when you put your hand in front of the thing they come out of,

it took an hour or so of walking through the store to find it, and I didn't really think theyd actualy get me a new computer.

this thing is fast :D it only took five minutes to download ksp :)

I must see the lag free ksp with my own eyes!

Download is internet speed... not computer speed... but it's an okay comp anyways, as fore-mentioned, Win 8, ugh.

But... I am getting this for Christmas... the one on the far right... I'm pretty sure my dad bought it when it was on sale for like $800... I'm pretty sure it's the only thing I'm getting though... http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/ideapad/y-series/y510p/

Only problem, as mentioned, is Win 8... and I hear it's a pain to install 7 on it... so, I'll make do.

Wai wai wait... after you were almost CERTAIN that you would get a computer, you got them a GUMBALL MACHINE? Dude no offence, but I'd use a pencil more than that...

Windows 8 is fine, if you try. I was pleasantly surprised by is, as especially under the hood it is a fine OS.

Be careful not to merely thank with money. It might be nice to do something extra as a thank you, like doing some chores other family members usually do, or making something with your own hands that takes some effort, or something like that.

I was quickly losing hope of getting a new computer, and it's not a gum ball machine, because it doesn't have to use gum balls and it doesn't require quarters.
