Wheels "sink" into terrain

Hello all, I'm making a rover in career mode (idk if that makes a diff), but when I go to use it the wheels just sink into the terrain and just spin. It's as if they aren't there. When I put an engine on the back of the rover and fire it up, I can see the craft is resting on the supports and the wheels are just dragging, if I go fast enough they break off. This even happens when I attach wheels to a fuel tank.

Am I missing something?

Pics would help.

Wheels don't really work right unless they're "right side up" so if they are at an angle maybe that's the problem.

Your wheels are sideways.

try rotating them until they work.

It's a common error with those wheels especially, the wide tab should be at the top, with the narrow tab at the bottom.
