Ummmmm, so... the speed of light?

I had a rover headed for Duna. Had being the operative word here.

Anyway, needed to visit it mid flight to catch up on it's life support so the recyclers could do their job. No worries. However, on load, the Kracken attacked and gave it a mighty heave.

Now the command pod, which survived, is outbound on a polar trajectory at just north of 50 million meters per second...

I suppose this is why I launched two rovers. However, I wasn't expecting to lose one this way. I was more worried about my landing skills than the Kracken. I find myself vaguely sad now as I have absolutely no way to save them.

Anyone else care to share their Kracken attacks while we wait for .23 to drop?

You appear to have had a situation similar to this one:

...only that corrupted the save and everything was sent to what appears to be the same spot.

That's my only ever Kraken attack where something more than engines have fallen off, or tanks have mysteriously exploded.

This was my biggest Kraken attack. Kerbin Space Station exploded into that many parts as you see, and some more that went directly to various celestial bodies. Speed wasn't that spectacular, but the part rain was fairly nice for some years xD

0.0625c ain't bad for someone who weren't trying to get to an appreciable percentage of the speed of light.

Despite how it's been postulated in the past, I've never actually seen a picture or video of anyone who actually got within 0.9c.

You currently have the record that I've heard of, Rosenkranz.

The previous record holder got it on video,

. He had roughly 0.01c.

Think I've seen the kraken once or twice, but that's ages ago.

First time was back in .12 or something like that I believe.

Wanted to see how close to the sun I could get, and that was when the sun was only a single point of light and gravity.

Think I got my trajectory fairly close, but the vessel broke up before I got anywhere near the sun because of the speed.

I'll see about a screen shot when I get home.

To be honest, I have a feeling it has something to do with trying to pan the camera around while it's still loading. I had thought it was done and went to turn the camera. However it was lagged. I think this is what happened when it caught up the lag.
