Solidworks to KSP

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I have a question about modelling. Im working with solidworks in my job, and i think im realy good ;-) so why not make models for ksp.

I tryd 3dmax converter and stuf like this but i dont geht the modell into ksp or into 3dmax.

Is there any chance to convert Solidworks files into ksp ?

if this is possible i think i can make a few awesome models.

Thx for your help

It's a multistep process, Solidworks should be able to save as .STL, but this file is not ready to be used by KSP. You must load the .STL into a poly-based 3D modeller like 3DS Max or Blender in order to generate a UV map, and you'll probably want to change around the faces, simplifying and making uniform, etc. Once you've done that you can either export a .DAE and import that into Unity, or if you're using Blender import the .Blend file directly (or not if you don't want). Finally in Unity you'll set up the mesh and structure as desired, then using PartTools, either PT 0.18 or PT 0.20, export a .MU file that can be loaded into KSP.

Blender was freeware i think. So with blender and solidworks i shoud be fine? i never used unity or blender alot of stuff to learn
