Live EVA session

Recommended Posts

The astronauts at ISS are going to be doing EVAs and it will be streamed live. NASA Television will begin coverage of the spacewalks at 6:10 a.m EDT. The EVAs are scheduled to last about 6:30 hrs.

Dates of the EVAs are:

1) 21 of December - 7:10 a.m. (EDT)

2) 23 of December

3) 25 of December

I believe the time will be all the same for all 3 days. For more info see: http://www.nasa.gov/content/expedition-38-ready-for-series-of-spacewalks-beginning-saturday/index.html#.UrTykvQwS-U

Transmission will be held in this website: http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/index.html#.UrWMDPQwS-U

They do have cams on the suits, but you don't see the video all the time. I don't know why, though.

I've been watching it here and there for the several past hours and it's great to see how they've been transitioning from daylight to night several times so far. They're far ahead the schedule and even doing stuff planned for second EVA.

One of the astronauts was complaining about his fists getting very cold during the night so he enjoyed the sunlight.

The problem with the possible water leaking in the helmet which put a ban on using those suits was premediated by putting an absorbment pad at the back of the head, but so far everything is ok.

I'll put some screenshots of the today's EVA when it's over. The fact we're able to watch something like this live is very cool.

Meanwhile, here's a nice, but creepy video of one cool project done years ago.

If only they had some animatronics and a great camera onboard the station and the suit... :D

Dont really see how they could expect any more time off over Christmas than anyone else working a residential technical role, or working a critical infrastructure support role. While they might get some leeway in what they're doing during their personal time (and maybe some treats sent up with the latest cargo run) the important stuff will take priority.

Wonder why it takes NASA three spacewalks to do a 6 1/2 hour job when the Russian crew will be outside for 7 continuous hours on the 27th?
