If I crashed a ship that had a mun experiment on it...

Recommended Posts

I was getting some experiments from the midlands in mun, when I accidentally crashed the ship on the way back to kerbin. Then when I look in the science logs, it says the experiments had 0 science. Does this mean if I do it again on the mun midlands, I won't get as much science?

The available science should only be reduced when science successfully gets back to KSC by either transmission or recovery. When transmitted, the available should only be reduced by the amount after transmission loss (i.e. transmitting just makes it slower to gather science, it doesn't lower the total available).

If you're seeing the available science reduced without getting credit for it, that would be a bug.

As soon as you perform an experiment it is logged in the Science Archives with 0 science points. When you return to KSC or transmit the experiment, actual science points are scored.

I have still an 0-point EVA report from Kerbin's upper atmosphere logged ...won't get any score soon, as poor Jeb hit the ground very hard after not holding on to his capsule

Something interesting i learned recently is that you can recover Science data from 'debris'. I crashed a ship into the mountains near KSC that was covered with a bunch of goo cans. I was able to recover each goo can that survived and still get the science from them. Although Im sure this wont work for any part that has been destroyed.

You will notice, if you carry two goo canisters (I do for balance):

That when you use both at the same place they will both say 9+ science(for example).

But when you get back one will say +9, the other will say +4.5 (or whatever it is now).

No science until the science is "recovered", either by transmission or returning to Kerbin.
