Dingo - Superlight SSTO

Recommended Posts

Very cheap way to transport a person to and from Kerbin orbit. Easy to fly with or without a pilot, and with full or empty tanks as well.

Don't be afraid of the ion engines, the craft is so light that the two of the ion engines can provide a pretty good thrust.

At the KSS station, switching the crew:

Action Groups:

1- Jet

2- Ion

3- Rocket (mainly for deorbit, but can be used for quick maneuvers, or when in the shadow of kerbin)

4- Air intakes

8- Solar panels

(Stage- extend ladder of the launcher)

Since the pilot seat can't be manned at launch, it has a launcher with a lander can that can be used to quickly put a kerbal in it :)

Look how happy Neillock is! The heat shield protects him from the reentry heat :D

Thanks for the comments :)

With this many solar panels, you can run the two ion engines continuously around kerbin, if angled well (and if the sun is visible). Maybe i could remove one or two pairs, but now it allows a little deviation too.

The metal panel is the heatshield that protects the pilot at reentry! It is a must have! :P Visibility is not an issue: the pod can land on its own too, but if the pilot wants to land manually, he has a tiny (imaginary) camera screen with indicators at the back of that panel.
