Build The Tallest Spire!

Good evening Kerbals!

I am here to ask and answer one simple question: How big can you Spire?

Waaay back in the dusty realms of the forum, probably eaten during the Forumpocalype back in April, someone posted a series where the built the tallest tower possible. By memory, they got to around 200m before the whole thing collapsed.

Essentially, the goal here is to fly sections of a tower to another world, and assemble them to make a tower as high off the surface as possible.

Mechjeb is highly recommended for its ability to show "surface altitude".

OP example:

SCORING:

Nothing too complicated here: Tallest wins!

Minmus comes highly recommended for its low gravity, flat 'seas' and relative proximity.

Note that 'Spire' means a long, narrow structure, so you can't build any supports from the base to the central tower: it must stand on its own (dockingports are obviously required to do this correctly)

LEADERBOARD:

Kahlzun: 53m (Minmus)

Oh no. I can already hear the roar of 1000 ton rocket masters sending up their massive strut and girder-filled monstrosities as they build some skyscraper at the limits of the game's rendering distance.

There was talk about building a Space Elevator, but that is not possible both due to limited rendering distance and part count rendering.

Geostationary orbit on Minmus is only about 357 km: with the lower gravity, possibly attainable?

If needs be, you can try using Quantum Struts, if thats current in 0.23
