Details of the Gemini spacecraft

Hey Space cadets,

Just a couple of questions, for no reason other than interest.

In the Gemini spacecraft:

1) How did the docking mechanism work?

2) What were the trailing cables out the back?

Docking mechanism is described there in details. And what concerns that cables... uh, I\'m not sure.

The cables could be radio antennas, A wire is all an antenna really is

Sorry about reviving the thread. The cables on the back of the gemini spacecraft are actually from the boosters and are only seen on Gemini 7, as on other pictures it isn\'t seen and none of the people doing eva\'s saw them.
