Using Addons and plugins in career mode?

Is is possible to get plugins or mods to appear in the career mode? I've tried adding them but they don't show up. Granted I've only unlocked one tier of research so far.

Yes, as long as the mod has been updated to add its parts to the tech tree, which has been done for many of the popular mods. In many cases, the mod parts are added at an appropriate place down the tree, so there's a very good chance that you've not yet unlocked them.

Ask in the threads for individual mods if there's issues with specific mods in career mode which are not answered by the above.
