Science Checklist or Spreadsheet?

I was wondering if there is already a science checklist or spreadsheet out there for 0.23

I know it would be a SPOILER, but for those of us that don't mind, it would be nice to have something to check off.

I know 0.23 lists the science completed, but it would be nice to have a list of all the science available.

I figured by now there MUST be a nice checklist, or spreadsheet out there, but my search hasn't been able to find one yet.

.23 does list things you failed to bring back... so you know there is science there to get...

A polar orbit and an eva Kerbal should reveal all the biomes. The grav sensor might do this too... not sure. Then there are different levels of orbit and for planets with atmospheres different levels within those.

On the EVA Kerbal... anyone ever managed to get EVA reports "while in orbit over: KSC, The launch pad, or the runway."? Those biomes are pretty small and while in orbit you'd whiz right by in less than a second for something like the launch pad.

I haven't checked, but presumably the 'in orbit' status is just a measure of your altitude, so you could fire directly up from those places and get an EVA report that way.

Like Luis said they probably just require you to be above KSC (etc.), just as "High over X" and "In space near X" can be achieved during a flyby rather than having an actual orbit.

Simple answer: No. I didn't even know those categories existed :P

I did find this on another forum post, I guess this could work. Wish it was in a table format or something easier to use.

I guess I figured by now, with all the Delta-V calculators, and engineering documents out there, someone would have published a Science spreadsheet/checklist by now :)

I'm not sure if anyone has mapped all the new biomes for Minmus yet to add to the list.

KSC, launchpad and runway are surface only biomes, they cease to exist as soon as you leave the ground, becoming Kerbin's Shores. Therefore no 'flying over' or 'space just above' exist for these. Those 3 are unique in this sense. You can see this by doing an eva report hanging off a ladder on the launchpad, you will get 'flying over kerbin's shores', while if you drop off the ladder you get launchpad. The link posted above is wrong in this respect, as it implies these biomes can be sampled above ground-level.

When it comes to a checklist its fairly predictable once you understand how the experiments work. Different experiments use subtly different rules. i.e. not all care about biomes, those that do can cut-off the biomes at different points. An example of this is the grav detector which respects biomes all the way out to 'high space' whilst eva only cares about biomes until low space and things like goo pods which stop caring somewhere down in the atmosphere (I forget if it's flying over or actually landed).

Also, while EVA from 'low orbit' or 'flying over' is unique per biome, EVA from upper atmosphere is always just 'upper atmosphere', no biomes apply.

If you are willing to handle some Spoilers then open up the science.cfg file. Each experiment entry there has a 'situation mask' which is what limits it. (i.e. temp scans stop working at upper atmosphere) Im not certain which if any of those parameters in that file denote the experiments attitude towards biomes.

EDIT: A proper checklist external to the game seems like a smart idea, so im bashing together an html tool for it just now. Maybe someone somewhere will find it useful

Well...

darn. That could have been an awesome challenge.

They are ground-only biomes, I believe.

I made a little excel science checklist with pictures. Check this out and let me know if there is errors! Hope it will help some of you!

Nice! It works in openOffice also (just had to reposition the pics, no big deal). Thank you for going to the trouble of making this!
