How about an Elite ( orange status )!

Well i thought it would b cool to b able to promote a kerbals to "orange status" after some impressive achievement and courage ! Sliightly drunk so dont b to hard on me ! and the most important things is to have 3rd person kerbals orange suits !

Still it would be nice to be able to promote our Kerbals, perhaps using suit colour as a badge of rank. I think something like this is planned at some point. I would like it if we had some control over who gets promoted, rather than it being an automatic thing based on number of flights or something.

An option to "promote" Kerbals would be welcome, as long as it isn't done automatically. After all, every player has his/her own idea of what constitutes an achievement worthy of promotion. For EVA excursions, I think both mission patches and coloured stripes on helmets have already been proposed as a way to make them somewhat unique.

This sounds great, although I'm a little unclear on what benefits there are from 'better' kerbals. 'We' fly the craft, and control the Kerbals on EVA, so would these promotions be simply aesthetic?

I think it is a matter of reaching actions with a single kerbonaut. I.e. I landed at mun with a kerbonaut, and came back safe to kerbin, I can then put a patch or change the spacesuit color, to reuse him in a future mission to dunna, I can identify he quickly at the kerbonauts list, because reminds me that he was the chosen one and I will enforce to keep him alive to add to him new patches or color bands, and if I lose him, I will have to start with a vanilla kerbonaut again.

As random events aren't going to make it into the game it sounds like this would be purely asthetic, not that's a problem. Would be nice to have some benefits to different outfits though.

having another idea ! Some progression for the Kerbalnauts !

The light "Blue" status = Kerbals enterings the KSP Flying schools !

The "pink" status is the status when the kerbalnauts is in actual trainning no more theories.

The "white" Status is a kerbalnauts! Ready to roll !

The "Orange" status is the Delta force of the kerbalnauts.

We could take this idea further and add specialist.

The Pilots.

The Science guys. <-- this guys could b the mental health specialist too !

The Kanadian arms specialist.

The "Eva" specialist !

The "cook" *not a Under Siege reference at all*

and so on !
