(semi-big) VTOL Dropship - Stability & Control

Recommended Posts

Hello fellow Kerbalnauts!

I've had this game for about three days, in that time I've only worked on space planes and more specifically VTOL's.

So I've been working on this one ship here:

(the html imaging doesn't want to work for the website! D: )

It takes of ok, it can fly alright, but there's one thing that I just cant get over: It's about as responsive as a potatoe. Okay may not that unresponsive but I haven't been able to land it yet because it can barely tilt backwards or to the sides fast at all which causes the VTOL to not be able to make a stable decent and it flies forward into the ground... boom

If someone could help me make it better or give some suggestions at all it would be appreciated!

Here's the ship up for download:

Thanks! :)

Thanks!

When I got more reaction wheels it became more responsive and now I can land it as well when the center of lift was moved forward it made it a lot more stable when hovering.

Yeah the CoT, was below the CoM; I was very, very careful of that when I was building.

So I see this was answered (Good!) but a nice thing that Tweakables allows for VTOLs is if you set the "Forward" engines to 0 thrust, you can see the CoT for just the "Lifting" engines. Of course, same applies in reverse, too.
