Jeb won't climb in his seat

So I built the following small contraption and sent it up to my space station. Mainly to test my the xenon engine, but for laughs as well. So now for some reason Jebediah won't climb in the darned seat. Any ideas as to why this is happening and how I can fix it?

He is too far or you are not performing the command. He won't enter the seat automatically. Get him a bit closer, point your mouse so the seat is highlighted, right-click and the option will appear in menu.

hmm I was expecting some sort of "press f to board" prompt. Anyway, I got in the seat only to find out that you actually need rcs to control ships with xenon engines. darn...

A better way of putting it is that EAS-1 seats don't have the reaction wheels built into every other command pod and probe core. Add reaction wheels from, well, anything, and you can steer.

HOWEVER, reaction wheels require electricity, which you should be saving for your ion engine.

I've built tonnes of ion systems and never use RCS.

You are either missing a probe core (since the seat isn't actually a control module) or electricity.

Judging by how it looks, even if you add small battery (200 EC) and probe core, it will have TWR around .05 and work maybe for 10 seconds before running out of electricity.
