how do you make a base capable of reaching the Mun, or other planets?

I have little experience in base building, but you should always design a lifter rocket to put the parts of the base into orbit and finally touching down. ALWAYS break up the base into small pieces, as they are much easier to maneuver and manage the way you need them to.

I'm in the process of building this one:

I built a few different modules and docked them together on the surface. Generally manoeuvring smaller payloads is easier. It takes more time but it is a little easier to do if you can design craft quite well.

You can click on the image if you want to see my youtube series on it.

Heres my "base", im more just pooling resources together so I can get 1 mother lander to cover 5 or 6 biomes in 1 trip. It can be alot of fun with some real challenges, havent lost any Kerbals yet. :sticktongue:

Had a hairy situation with Bill tho, he had to make an emergency landing about 150km from the base, luckily his fine rover w- front and back winch saved the day,haha, took 2 or 3 hrs of careful rovering tho.!! ;.;

Save often or dont save at all so u can revert !! lol

Building a bunch of base pieces and putting them all together. Pffft! :sticktongue: Just send the whole base at once. In this case, 2 separate bases. :D

The 1st one is a jet fuel depot, Bird's Nest One, complete with, not 1, but 2 jets, J-Birds! The other is main base, Kokodrie. The main base starts at image 35.

Sorry I never got around to finishing the commentary. 0.23 arrived about then.
