My first encounter with the Kraken

After four hundred hours, it seems I've finally found this illusive beast. I had just spent the last three hours practicing various maneuvers I'll be using for my all-IVA mission to the Mun, and on my return this happened as I entered Kerbin's atmosphere preparing for an aerobrake. I wasn't actually recording at first, but I just got stuck in the atmosphere so I had enough time to start FRAPS and get some footage. There was a heatshield that detached and went flying off into the atmosphere, so apparently it got free but as for the Kerbals? Not so much luck.

EDIT: That's the last time I let YouTube handle lighting. I was just being lazy and didn't bother editing it myself, so please forgive the horrendous gamma adjustment.

The Kraken just totally destroyed a save file for me. As two ships approached each other under warp to prepare to enter docking range, the uncontrolled ship disappeared and reappeared stuck on the other side of he mun with a negative distance of over 1 million kilometers. I couldn't switch to it either. Any attempts at launching any new rescue vessels to retrieve anyone off of either ship has been met with CTD's now. Bummer too :(

I was also recently attacked, twice (maybe)! On the first occasion Jeb was trying to get into a ship which was landed on Minimus, but instead he fell through a wormhole and died (poor little guy). Ok, maybe not a wormhole, but he fell through the planet and got ejected out the other side, and then back into the planet. I realize that the above description makes no sense, but it's the best I can do to portray the incident. The other attack was less likely Kraken and more likely shoddy rocketry, but I had one ship that would get to 30Km and then explode, every time, some really funny oscillation would make it blow to bits (in the end I ditched the design and started from scratch).

Crash To Desktop. Fairly standard game crash. :)

There's nothing standard about a game crash! Or at least I would hope there wouldn't be. :P

This is kind of why I find this all so ... interesting. I've always heard all these stories people have about ships falling apart, or weird physics that send Kerbals flying out into the void but I'd never really had anything too odd happen. This one was particularly weird because I went for reentry at 40km and was preparing to use my engines to slow myself enough to get out of the SOI of the Mun (sort of a wonky return trajectory) and then suddenly I started getting G force warnings and I'm like, "What's my altitude? Did I dip in low?" but ... nope. Whatever this is. I haven't tried the save again yet, maybe the whole thing got busted.
