A change in my timeline, in which there is an alien siege before the events of the bug-mech war, which takes place in 2034

TIME : 1230

STATUS : CHECKING LETTERS FROM A CRASHED AIRPLANE

"January 7th. 1994.

Kater is growing quickly. I hope you get back from the war soon. Love, Callista.

That's last that isn't unreadable. Y'know who any of these are going to?" Kinne asked.

"Nope," Adam said. "Waiiit... the hull breach here is described in science fiction as done by a laser..."

"So?"

"We might have an alien siege on our hands. Better report this back to base."

"That's not a good reason for a report. You'll probably be demoted back down to sergeant, sir. Any other accounts similar to this?"

"Yeah, a couple commercial planes and a boat sank with hull breaches like this."

"Where did that boat sink?"

"On a soft bed of sand."

"Hmph."
