Automatic Parachute

I have never noticed this happening before today, although I haven't actually needed to use one for a week or so so I may have forgotten. Anyway I have a Mk16 parachute mounted on my lander, and as I lose altitude and speed the parachute automatically deploys. Is that usual behaviour? I would rather have manual control over its deployment.

I guess you probably deployed it before the deployment conditions were met. The moment the correct altitude and pressure are established, parachute jumps out.
