Launching Base Parts

Recommended Posts

ok so i have landed the control module of my mun base and now i need to add more. i have a science module ready to launch but due to me being an idiot, the solar panels of the control module will go through the science lab.

to solve this i have designed a sort of extension to dock to the control and then to dock the science module onto it. its totally cosmetic in use and is made of almost entirely structural parts, but i kinda need it so i can put more on the base.

my new problem is that i have no idea how to launch the new part in such a way that it is landable and positionable

can anyone show me how they would get it to mun?

i dont have any pics of it (yet) but i can give u the part (as a sub assembly).

actually i cant... i dont know how to find the part as a sub assembly in the folders. so if u can tell me how then i can upload it for you :D

If you sign up for a photo site like imgur, you can upload photos that you take in the game (using f1) to this forum. In regards to your questions about landing and positioning, you can use one of two methods:

1. The skycrane method. Google "mars skycrane" and you should have a good idea.

2. The piggyback method. Simply build a nice lander with space on top. Your base module will ride piggyback style on the lander to the surface. Once landed, you can simply drive the base component up to the rest of your base and dock.

Touhou torpedo has a nice set of (probably outdated) wheels that are invaluable to base contruction. They can move forwards, backwards, AND sideways! Like a crab. Without pictures, that's as well as I can explain the issue. Hope this helps.
