Staging (fuel) info while on map overview screen

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

When launching my crafts I usually go to the map overview when I'm getting close to AP and continue maneuvering from there to finalize my orbit.

However, usually I have a couple of asparagus stages left during this phase and I can't see when one stage is out of fuel, so I have to switch back and forth between ship view and map view.

Does anybody know if there's a mod to make it possible to see stage fuel info and be able to separate stages while in the map view?

I found a thread somewhere on here asking the same question, but never came to a resolve...

Even in map view you can click the Resources button in the upper right and watch the amount of fuel you have. You can also click the Stage Only button to display just resources available to the current stage but it does not work very well and with asparagus staging you'll still see all your lifter fuel, not just what gets decoupled the next time you stage. You can remember, though, at which fuel level you'll need to stage.

Kerbal Engineer Redux and MechJeb will both tell you the fuel and other stats for each stage. AFAIK neither will allow you to separate stages from the map view but if you use MechJeb you can set it to 'autostage' so it automatically changes to the next stage when the current one is out of fuel.

Alternatively, both mods allow you to 'see' your orbit without actually switching to map view, on the orbital display thingy.
