First Kraken attack?

Hi All,

Been playing about 1.5 months, in 0.22 career mode. Currently have (OK, had) three "ships" flying, each with three Kerbals:

1. One enroute back from Dres to Kerbin

2. A Jool expedition armada, one ship along with two other robot controlled units (a tanker and a probe)

3. A Duna expedition, landed on Duna.

Now that it was time to arrive at Jool, because my expedition is about 20 days out, I went to space center, tracking station, and selected Jool expedition ship. It started to load and...wtf? Black screen, altitude numbers rolling 888,888 ... 111,111 etc. Nothing seen in map mode either, except text saying "Focus gibberish," certainly not "Jool Expedition."

So I exited out of KSP, loaded it again. Now the Jool ship and its Kerbals have vanished. Yikes, must be right into the Kraken's maw. I'm glad there's a name for this phenomenon, it gives me a way of dealing with it stoically.

The other Jool expedition ships appear to be OK, so at least I get some science from the deal. (This is my first visit to Jool.)

So this is the Kraken, no?

EDIT: Reading the wiki, the bug I encountered resembles the "Hell Kraken" however I had no EVAs going on, nor had I been time warping with any of the Jool ships. In fact, I had been leaving them alone for weeks while I tended to other missions in progress. Yet, the ship with Kerbals in it was destroyed, and nav ball had disappeared, as in the description of the "Hell Kraken" bug. Cheers-

Sure sounds like it... unless you put Jeb in charge of powerplant monitoring for a shift. He might have... experimented with it a bit.

You tried to approach the grave of the Kraken's child. It did not take kindly to your crass maneuver.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the Kraken. If the ships were large and/or you had things docked together and/or there were several ships close to each other, definitely the Beast's maw taking you.

Thanks guys. Wasn't even Jeb...he's telling his brothers to keep quiet ever since he heard the explosion over the radio. No, it was (happily) some other schlemiels I hardly knew, my "C" crew. ("A" crew are the orange-suited ones, "B" crew are the nice fellows from Astronaut selection group 2, lots of experience but not very famous.)

Hey that's it, this was a rookie expedition. They never knew what hit them.

Had my first Jool/Laythe multi-part ship disappear on me while building it in LKO. Was not save-recoverable, it was just gone. That was a blow. I didn't try another expedition for a good month or two.

I also had an Eeloo mission returning to Kerbin (well into interplanetary space), which apparently had an encounter with the 'Hell Kraken' when I tried to load it in. My altitude went to 666666G, but the ship was either gone or invisible. Luckily for Bob, who had already visited Moho and Dres in this save, I was able to quit out and reload just fine.

I just had mine today.

So i was in the tracking station, chose my "Ganymede Lander" and them boom.

The hell or NaN kraken said "Hey hey hey! Stay outta my lander!" and then i went back to the KSC, and there was a black screen.

I fell down on Minmus and the screen went black, altimeter spun through the numbers 111111222222333333.... and KSC disappeared. When I restarted KSP my Minmus expedition was gone. And the science with it.
