What do you find FUN in KSP, or how do you play to make it fun?

If a kerbal gets ut and grabs the science from it and puts the science in the pod, then yes. Also, kerbals can carry science home that they didn't create.

Thanks pigletx2,

I had recovered the data via EVA, but since they are part of my return vehicle I was looking to see if the canisters themselves could be jettisoned from their individual mounts before doing the trans Kerbin injection burn to squeeze out an extra few meters of dv. Anyway, turned out you can't do that, but it wasn't necessary and I just barely made it home.

I agree with most of these ideas, it's really "playing to better one's self" and as such it's perhaps the best kind of competition.

Having just reached a major milestone in the game...filling out the science tree in career mode, flying stock and without any navaids, I have begun looking for more things to do. As a reward I've added MechJeb to cut down on the tedium of setting up and executing burns. Also added Kethane Pack, to give me a reason to go setup bases.

I also spend a lot of time fooling around with experimental designs, as this game really shines in the almost Darwinian approach to design. Just keep testing until it works, you get a refined design one way or the other.

When I first got KSP I challenged myself with going to the Mun and maybe building a space station in orbit, did that...

Then I found out about Kethane and got the mod for that and built a base on the Mun and rovers to harvest Kethane, that kept me busy for a while...

Then I got a few other mods like the B9 Aerospace pack, the Infernal Robotics pack and the Lack Lustre Labs pack and decided to try and use them to build an improved base on the Mun.

Also got plans to do/,make a few other things but gonna keep them to myself til I get around to actually doing them.:sticktongue:

I tend to alternate between trying to build things to get somewhere without looking at any delta-V charts, launch windows, or nav-aids, and the other side of the coin of building something ridiculous and setting a destination on Kerbin.

Mods I use: Firespitter, B9, Infernal Robotics, Lack Luster Labs, Modular Multiwheels (old, but functional if you don't mind playing sandbox), Hooligan Labs Airship Parts, InfiniteDice's Boat Parts, and Kethane.

Something fun I tend to do is build rovers and either try to drive them somewhere, or air-drop, build them to survive the landing, and then drive to a location. I also build propeller assisted rockets, Jet-driven speedboats, rocket powered blimps, sepratron driven drag-trucks, and planes full of probe missiles. Then I switch tactics and try to build airplanes with 6 wings, solid rocket powered ships to reach the Mun, making a train in space out of docking ports and Lack Luster Labs parts and hinges for turning. I build fuel trucks that dock with airplanes and are flown to the North Pole, I make bases on Kerbin, the Mun, Laythe, and Duna, and then switch again to being silly and trying to put helicopters in space.

So what do I suggest for having fun? Introduce some Insanity into your designs and create chaos.
