Brief history of spaceflight, as narrated by Wernher Von Kerman

It was normal day at Kerbin Space Center, Jebidiah was day-dreaming about his next mission, Bill was clearing latest mission from the launchpad, Bob was asleep and professor Von Kerman was experimenting with newest design. When suddenly one of the KSC reactors exploded.

There was lots of fire, loud noises and radiation, Jebidiah, of course, was ecstatic, Bill freaked out and Bob didn't notice anything.

When fires died out, but not before radiation measurements can be taken, Jeb rushed to the explosion site and soon emerged (seemingly unscratched, but with slight green halo around him), in his hands he was holding a tape reel.

Apparently, explosion opened a rift in time-space continuum and one item from another universe was sucked in.

Despite best efforts of professor Von Kerman, reel appears to be very badly damaged and it's hard to say, if the damage was done by inter-dimensional travels or the reel is simply old.

I'm not 100% sure what you mean If you are talking about difference in "tech" of video and tech of content, then yes, it is deliberate.
