Normal for Mobile Processing Lab?

I'm building a Space Station and added a Mobile Processing Lab to it. I then sent up some Kerbals and moved two into the lab via an EVA. But, when I moved them in, they didn't appear on the UI the same as the Hitchhikers Storage Container does. I seem that they are on the station in the save file but I can't move them down now or have them leave the station through game play. Is this normal or have I stumbled onto a glitch?

You have to EVA them by right clicking on the door of the lab. They don't have portraits, as you've noticed.
