Material handling in Unity

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am having trouble importing a model I made in blender to Unity. I have applied two individual materials to separate objects in blender, and then tried importing it to Unity;

However, Unity apparently ignores my materials and assigned the model to the default material. I can't seem to figure out how to assign different textures/materials to objects in a model in unity, so this is a problem.

Can anyone help me? How can I assign my two materials to these different parts of the same model?

Alright, it seems that Unity is refusing to actually load properly 2 of the 3 objects in the model. It just shows this icon 6nsZR.jpg

instead of the 3d preview.

It seems to recognize my collider mesh just fine (Which is just a box). This is when using the .dae format; when using .obj it doesn't recognize my objects separately.

Thank you for the response by the way, I've now gotten material handling mostly figured out if I could get my model to load properly.

I like to export as .fbx, see how that works

I can see why; Unity actually detected and imported the correct materials.

Now the only problem is that my model won't show up in the main 3d scene window (although it appears just fine in the 3d preview).

I place it under an empty GameObject, and it just shows up as the 3 axis pointers.

Edit: It appears as though the model was hiding in the realm of the microscopic (Scale factor somehow was set to 0.01 and I didn't notice). Easy to fix.

Thanks for the help.
