Would a map editor give those that want more planets and systems what they want?

Recommended Posts

They seems to be a big divide between those that want more systems to explore and those that dont.

Well why not just release a means for moder to add more biomes planets and even systems?

That way if you want to play confined within Kerbin great you can, just don't download extra planets ect And if your like me you want more? Then download more. Everyone's happy.

And this excuse being banded about by certain die hards about having the same playing experience blah blah blah Well great if your playing sandbox. But if you are willing to add mods into your game you are already wanting to diverge from the same playing experience anyway. Basically let people play how THEY want.

Basicaly just let the individual decide what they want, everyone can be happy.

The ability for the mod community to make their own modd'ed solar systems is indeed the right compromise between "we want different planets" and "SQUAD wants everyone to have common shared experiences". It would allow for different solar systems, but not an infinite number of them procedurally generated to be slightly different. There'd be the shared community of people who all like to play with Bob's Homemade Universe, and can share their stories about their exploits, then another shared community of people who all like to play with Amy's Solar System, and so on.

I think SQUAD should just give modders a simple way of editing orbits and adding planets, rather than having to delve though code and find work-arounds in order to get it to work. Sharing should be easy too - put it in a folder that goes in GameData.

I'm not opposed to this, but you have to admit, it either won't be what people want, or it will take forever to bugfix

Works ok for other games. If its for modders it doesnt need to be bug perfect. Iv used some clunky tools before, you live with it.
