It's a slightly modified version of KSP aimed at the school market. It will help teach math and science, and will include lessons for both KSP and classroom activities, and will provide access to a discounted version of KSP for the students.

Well, we can certainly turn this into a Discussion.

I love the idea of turning KSP into an educational tool. It has inspired me to teach myself about Aeronautics and I can say without hesitation, the best game I have ever played.

I had only the foggiest idea about how space travel really worked (like 99% of everybody I imagine) until I started KSP. Now I can talk space science like it's not even a big deal. That may not mean much except at cocktail parties, but I feel very much enriched by it. Playing the school version would probably help even more so.

Not too excited, IMO KerbalEDU has taken away development time/effort, and more importantly has shifted the direction of the game, vis-a-vis multiplayer and no resources

You seem to be misunderstanding. KerbalEDU is basically a mod for KSP that is being developed by a third party, just with Squad's support. I don't think any actual game development time has been spent on it.

Then I accept my error and withdraw the first portion of my previous statement, though are the devs not investing a lot of time for contracts and conferences?

It would be nice if KSP (stock and/or EDU) more closely mirrored our real solar system. Everyone is memorizing the delta-v to get from Kerbin-to-Mun, the phase angles to transfer from Kerbin to Duna, LKO starts at 70km, etc which is all a bunch of useless information in the real world. That's one of the things I liked when I played Orbiter, I ended up memorizing the height/velocity of the ISS and real facts about the real space program.
