Some questions regarding persistence file data

Recommended Posts

I just have a few questions about what certain things mean.

I had a little "incident" with a mod involving a kerbal holding an external command seat, and that kerbal being "boarded", and having his name, and vessel designation changed. I can no longer control this Kerbal, he is just one giant space-vegetable on EVA on the Mun.

I know the mod did it, and I'm not asking anyone how to "fix" anything, I am trying to solve what happened on my own, I just don't know what a few things in the persistence file mean.

First question:

In the "crew" section, there is a "idx" number down at the bottom of each crew member, and recruit.

All of my crew members have an idx number of 0, 1, or 2.

Except Joncan Kerman, the victim of this strange incident. His idx is "-1", the same as all of the recruits.

I'm thinking maybe changing idx to 1 might solve the issue? I will try it and come post.

I am still curious what "idx" means, though.

second question:

I now have a vessel in my persistence file that is the remnants of Jonzer Kerman... Does this happen for all Kerbals on EVA? or is it a strange byproduct of the command seat nonsense?

i don't have an answer to your question sorry... but i would really like to see a picture of a kerbal riding another kerbal.....

i would assume he's back in the recruit pool? see if you can recruit him again! and his body is just floating debris in space? neat!

I tried changing his IDX to 1, nothing happened. 0, nothing happened, 2, nothing happened...

I ended up "teminating" his flight, and cloning him into a new recruit. He will rejoin his friends when another shipment of KAS goodies, and a habitation module get sent up to the base.

Jonzer Kerman is too cool of a name to let it get forcefully taken away from me in a dumb mod glitch :sticktongue:

He somehow ended back up in the recruit pool after Fish Taco I crashed and burned... so I put him back on Fish Taco III (the lander in the pictures) (Fish Taco II also met a similar fate as I). He must live on!

Here's the picture.

I tried moving him around with the other kerbal in the seat, but the guy in the seat just slid out.
