autosaves?

Recommended Posts

is it posible to restore to an autosave rather than a quicksave?

lag caused me to timewarp past my mun encounter and left me on an kerbin escape trajectory. wheni tryed to restore my quicksave it took me back way too far ignoring the save i had done just before the warp. now im 7 or 8 flights behind where i was.

i was wondering if i could restore one of the autosaves when i did my last docking... what is the point of autosaves if u cant use them?

im really annoyed because the mission had been going so well up until that point

Autosaves ARE used. The game makes periodic autosaves to let you continue where you left the previous time you played the game.

But to answer your question: Without mods or manual back-ups: No. Autosaves are overwritten and you can not revert back to an older one.

To avoid this in the future you should either make frequent quicksaves, make manual backups or use a mods. I know there is/was a mod out there somewhere that allowed multiple saves but can't find it at the moment.

Edit:

Found it: http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/51901-0-23-Multiple-Saves-DA-v016 Still, you will need to actually save your game manually.

There is only 1 persistent file. so if you1ve done something since docking that would cause a save, then you can't go back.

-If you are still ingame and haven't since done something for it to save, then stay ingame and switch to your desktop.

-Go to your KSP/Saves folder under whatever your game name is.

-Make a copy of the file called persistent.sfs.

-Exit your game in progress, back to the menu (where you select Resume Saved). This will cause it to save over persistent.sfs, buththat's why you made a copy.

-Delete the persistent.sfs file and replace it with your copied version.

-Reload your game.

I wrote an application (External to KSP and other games) that monitors any and all changes to a directory and its subdirectories and backs up any changed files that happen. Its a Windows only application, compiled under D2010. It works in the background, is automatic, changes are stored in a database and very easy to revert as needed. Its saved plenty of rocket designs, its saved plenty of frustration,

In order for me to post it here, I have to provide the source code, and I'm not quite ready to do that as of yet.
