On Swearing, Cussing, Cursing, and Profane Language

When I was younger, I used to swear a LOT with my friends, because that was "cool". They've kinda kept it up, but I've found the use of such words unnecesary. It tends to degrade a conversation to the point where it's just two guys screaming nonsense at each other.

Of course, I let go an occasional (is that how you spell it?) "F**K!" when I hit my toe against a wall or something.

I tend to mostly swear only when with friends, and even then only a little. Most of the time I sate myself with made-up or really tame language ("Gosh-darn it!")

I do it quite a lot. In several languages. But practically never as an insult, and only when it's at least somewhat apropriate (among roommates, most friends etc.)

Though it's likely a cultural thing as well. South Slavs aren't exactly known as, er...reserved in that respect
