Deprecating a part

Is there a way to deprecate a part. What I mean is that it still exists in the game and will work as was in craft already in flight, but will not be available in the VAB for new designs.

I see this would be useful, for example KAS removed the hookbay and replaced it with general purpose containers, but now my old designs will jot load or fly.
