To all add-on producers

In addition to the base rules, it will be more valuable to all users of addon to get a proper and minimal documentation, than a license that many don't mind at all (anyway how many understand precisely the license terms ?)

Maybe you'll found me grumpy, but have you never be disapointed, angry, anything when dearchiving something you have downloaded 2 days/weeks/more ago and discover a bunch of files and a few words about license and didn't remember at all what is all about ?

It's *** unbelievable to get:

- no doc at all (ex: the potentially amazing Open Resource System (ORS) by Fractal_UK, no offense man, there is two dlls but what is it ? what are the differences ?)

- a readme which start first by a changelog (great, I don't care about it), license (the same), then perhaps, if you're lucky, a "about this mod" paragraph.

Some people take at least some time to write a few sentences in the forum or the spaceport form but they forgot to add them into ith their content.

Why, for Jeb sake, you just don't create a file with all your doc and put it in the archive you release ?

Don't forget the people who will use your addon don't know what is all about, how to use it, how to deal with it, how it could be a benefit to his/her kerbal's experience.

So DYJ or anyone in the addon management team, what do you think about adding this simple rule ?

Why would someone download a mod if they didn't already have an idea of what it is for or what it does?

I agree that when your download package has some special requirements, such as having multiple different versions available, or something like alternate textures, then some instructions should be included. But detailed usage instructions are much better off in the forums where people can ask about them, though it would be helpful to add a link to the forum thread to make it a bit easier to find.

And while it's fine that you don't care about a changelog or a license, many people do, and it's important, and sometimes required, to include such things.

I'd just like to interject for a moment.

What you’re referring to as 'Open Resource System (ORS)' is, in fact, a plugin that can be, used within the context of your own mods. ORS is not a playable mod in itself, but rather another free component of a fully functioning mod system made useful by the ORS .dll.
