Seven different games per week! (My YouTube Channel)

I have officially released my first video for my YouTube channel (that isn't my trailer) today!

Here is my trailer (I apologize for the loud intro, that will be fixed in later videos. I'm still learning how to use Adobe Premiere Pro).

SCHEDULE:

Mondays: Kerbal Space Program

Tuesdays: GRID w/ ACAT mod

Wednesdays: GTA IV limits of infinity mods

Thursdays: Trackmania

Fridays: Bumper Wars

Saturdays: FATE

Sundays: Community pick (The most chosen game out of the list at the end of the trailer)

I figure this might be a fun way to get some money. The first KSP Mondays video is up now.

The quality of everything should improve the more I learn (and remember) about Adobe Premiere Pro. I have a film major for a roommate, so I have quite a bit of help.

So, if you guys want to learn some cool stuff, whether it be rocket science, astronomy, or just about games that you've never heard of before, subscribe to me, and I'll kill half-an-hour out of your day, seven days a week!

First thing you might want to look into is getting rid of the black letterboxes around your KSP video. If you absolutely must use a non 16:9 format you will get stuck with bars on the sides, but there's no reason to have them on the sides AND the top/bottom. IIRC Premiere has encoding presets for YouTube, use them, and make your recording software match them.

I've been trying to figure that out. There is a "stretch to fit" option, but it messes with the ratio.

So record in the correct aspect ratio (16:9). For 720p that's 1280x720 and for 1080p it's 1920x1080. KSP supports both resolutions just fine. If your monitor is something else (I'm guessing 16:10) you'll get slight bars whilst playing, but they won't be in your video. I've gotten best YT results with 29.97fps, and I'd recommend recording at that framerate. I've tried converting from 30 to 29.97 and that's always given me a slight fuzz in the picture.

I'll see if I can find the aspect ratios for the games. My monitor is 1920x1200, so that sounds like it would explain the top and bottom bars.

It does explain the top and bottom bars. That leaves the right/left ones, they're probably up to using improper settings and/or using yet another resolution for the encoding.

It's really as simple as setting a 16:9 resolution in game(I repeat; that's 1280x720 for 720p and 1920x1080 for 1080p) and recording that. Then load that footage into your editing software, if it's Premiere then just use the Youtube preset (they did all the work for you!) that corresponds to the desired fps and quality and off you go.

Would that also fix why FRAPS doesn't seem to record the whole screen (FRAPS seems to not record about a 0.5 inch margin all around the screen)?
