As XKCD once said, a coder is a tool for converting caffeine into code.

In that case, I'm a machine capable of intaking an entire box of Diet Coke within fifteen minutes and converting lots of it into code.

Then spending the remaining 15 percent staring at a screen trying to come up with names,

Also, I added one more dwarf planet, named Chau (it was 1AM, I was tired, and I was in one of the worst brainfarts ever, gimme a break :rolleyes:)

Also, would anyone be interested in seeing the planets AS they are developed?

Well, I frequent a klf server and if the other users there are willing to listen to more of my crap (:P) I can share pictures of the planets as I make them, maybe I'll have to post here to say when I'm on, but it'll be quite random likely, since I keep getting distracted playing Tekkit :P

I'll see what I can do after school today.

Anyways...

Well, they agreed (ish) on the premise that I don't share too many screenshots.

Yes, I have screenshot sharing problem... :P

So I won't be able to show as many pictures of the proto planets as you might call them.

I would do a live stream instead, but it causes my computer to blue screen eventually, and it gets annoying after a while, I think it's because my graphics card can't handle it or something.

Also, I think one of the planets hates me for using it to experiment with heightmaps...

What do planets have against cubes (of sorts) anyways? :sticktongue:

Really looking forward to see where this is going! In V. 0.2 is it the 11 shown, or are there more? You have mentioned more later in the thread, I don't know if they're an upcoming version or the current.

The last few I've mentioned are upcoming,

There's:

Cherno

Poseidon

Chau

Berrania

Kerbolis

Kernal

Derp (this ones just for messing around with height maps atm)

There is an Easter egg on one of these planets, if I could just get it to show up...

Progress has been slow lately, since life is getting in the way, because my brother is graduating from high school this Sunday I think, and I've had to spend the majority of the week helping everyone prepare, and then I almost flipped over the law mower :rolleyes:

But I've added another planet amidst the chaos, Sal. :)

I think I'm just going to post dev pics of the planets in the IRC Chat instead...

But anyways, in the past week I've been making more progress, added Ted and Rokker.

Gunna work on updating op and getting textures,

Just to give you an idea of what's been going on:

Kernal got nommed by Serious.

Made sure Sal had a solid surface (I've had planets refuse to have solid surfaces), but the surface is like 62 km above the "sea level".

Got Ixol and Ted inside each other accidentally.

Raged at planets not keeping their textures and going back to the DEFAULT texture. (Maybe I have too many planets loaded at once)

Had an interplanetary war with Berania (WHY U NO ACCEPT TEXTURE)

Atemped to come up with ideas for moons of Berania.

Tried to get an Easter egg to show up. (Stupid texture bending)

RING ALL THE PLANERTS!!!

Heh, ok not that many, but maybe just a ring for Berania, maybe one for an asteroid or two.

landing #2 after fixing the size and tweaking that atmosphere, the atmo is the height of jools at the moment. and for some reason the game isnt rendering the planet in higher detail as i get closer.

to give you an idea of how little power you get from solar panels this far out, in Targera orbit, i wouldnt recommend using solar panels to power a kethane mining operation out here...

The last few days were spent grinding gears in my head trying to decide names for Berania's moons, and deciding what to make them like, one will have a huge mountain on it , and another will look like a giant pile of dust. :P

And spacing them apart properly...

I got an idea for one of the moon's name's... How about:

Rainia

How is that name?

there is but one solution, since Krag has moved on to other projects, some good forum people have taken up the task of making a new planet creator plugin.

I'm bringing this back to life now because Kopernicus is almost to the point where it can be fully used to make planets, at the moment you can make just basic planets with it, but some of the asteroids (and probably Berania) might need the PQS which isn't useable in Kopernicus at the moment. So for now I'm going to discuss some plans I have for when development resumes.

On the list is:

making a Kuiper belt beyond Eeloo and Berania, started before development stopped.

Making Beranias moons.

Improving the asteroid belt asteroids.

Some comets.

Maybe a extrasolar comet :P

Maybe changing Beranias name (sounds too much like Urania)

Maybe an Easter egg or two :P (if I figure out how)

Ah, good to see that this is back. :) Also, are you going to use Rainia? Or does that sound too much like Urania?

I probably will, I just need to find a planet in space engine that looks like it has jungles everywhere. :)

But since my boredom is going nuclear I might start working on it a bit, but I'm afraid I might have to redo it all when Kopernicus releases.

Ehhh, I'll do it anyways, I might as well add the fix to Perseus, and see about making that Kuiper belt.

I'll probably start when I get home from school today.

Space Engines textures are listed as free for free use, but I think we should at least officially give credit to Space Engine in the mod description...... Seems the most noble thing to do considering the developer didn't seem to like it...

So.... Any progress?

Must... Think of... Name...

But other then that I've been thinking of how the moons are gunna be, so far it goes:

Moon 1: planet sized moon with an atmosphere of soup and a giant mountain poking up into the upper atmosphere, possibly the only hope of escape from said moon :P

Moon (mun?) 2: an atmosphere less rock around the size of the Mün but with a different color and height map, an ordinary rock basically :P

Moon 3: an large moon with an atmosphere with a density between that of Duna's and Kerbin's, but with several mountains reaching out of the atmosphere.

Moon 4: a mid sized moon with a smaller moon orbiting it.

Moon 4.5: maybe a tiny laythe like world (tons of greenhouse gases?)

Moon 5: a large Tylo like world, this moon will eat your rockets :sticktongue:

Moon 6-8: asteroids.

I can't garentee all of these will make it into the mod but I'll try :)
