Just found out Titanfall will require Origin =(

I was about to pre order a copy of Titanfall when I saw "Requires Origin Client". I wouldn't say I'd been following real close, but I was watching most of the preview videos and and what not. Somehow I had missed that EA was the publisher. Another game I won't be buying because of crappy Origin client requirement. Was like getting punched in the gut because I was really getting excited to try this game.

I've heard they've cleaned up their act a bit, but I still run it in a sandbox when I'm forced to run it. I think they updated their Agreement and modified it since, but intially they put in their they had to right to inspect your hard drive, which it was actually doing. I had a lot of issues with origin crashing and self updates breaking itself etc on the titles I did buy. Customer support was "Thanks for calling. Go **** yourself". Add to that it's EA, which is a company I try to avoid buying from for many reasons. Altogether it's enough that anything being sold on Origin is a deal breaker for me.

Nope, Origin is required. Since it's a multiplayer only title there's no way around it. Only way to not use Origin is to buy the Xbox version.

The requirement of Origin, Steam or any other DRM is a good reason not to buy a game. It is about time we show that people voluntarily choosing them is fine, forcing them is another thing.

I agree, although I usually pick a Steam version of a game over a stand alone. It's my choice, and steam/valve has earned my confidence. EA on the other hand... has not.

Origin is fine now... theres not much wrong with it

That rather depends on your point of view. There is a lot to be said about forcing users to use online platforms. It causes all sort of trouble, even when it functions as it should. To name a few; the inability to resell your games, the obligation to have and use internet access when you want to play, forced updates and no garantee how long you can play your games in the future.

Single player games that won't run without an internet connection are evil. The one EA game I still play from time to time is FIFA 13'. So one night my cable took a dump on me... "No problem, I can just fire up a game of FIFA since I can't watch any TV".

"Unable to login to Origin"..... HULK SMASH.

And don't get me started on the Sim City debacle. Which happened to be the final straw for me with EA.

Well Steam have offline mode that works 99.9999% of the time... of course, because the game that I played most is an online game, low latency internet connection is a top priority

At least it is better than D3 always online singleplayer game...
