So I launched my Kethane miner on an adapted Saturn launcher which used some solid boosters to get going. I only just had enough space to launch between the launch supports and as I launched I heard the familiar `something has been hit and come off your ship` noise. I awaited the upcoming destruction but nothing happened. I got curious so I looked to see what had come off.

It was one of the solid rocket boosters. It had come off and had lodged itself against a higher booster and was still burning!

As you can see, one booster is slightly higher and the nozzle is yellow. That is the one that has been knocked off and is now debris.

I crossed my fingers and when the boosters staged (luckily I was still on initial ascent and had not turned yet) it just fell away with them and the mission carried on as normal and orbit was attained.

See.. Moar boosters fixes everything.

That's pretty awesome. Mine usually act like intelligent munitions and plow into the most critical part of the ship before gleefully exploding.

I've had liquid fuel engines somehow detach from tank and keep burning. Usually gravity turn fixes the ships memory that it should have gloriously killed itself ealier though.

I have a lifter that extremely prone to this. The booster just flies off, making no difference to the lifter whatsoever. The lifter in question is also prone to random total failures.
