[KSP speculaton] What is Kerbin made of?

Our KSC scientists can confirm that the surface of our dear planet is composed of 92.7% "ground" with a remaining 7.3% composed of "stuff and other bits."

The same scientists unanimously agree that Kerbin's atmosphere is comprised of 100% "air."

Well that settles it. Time to investigate other planets

obviously it's made of immortal lifeforms from the Messier-22 Globular Cluster in the constellation Sagittarius that evolved on a world frequently thrown around to the extremes of planetary climates.

if you don't get the reference you really need to reconsider your taste in books…
