Parts from real rockets + Wingdesign

Recommended Posts

Hi guys,

I wanted to suggest some more (realistic) parts:

1) Control surfaces inside the output beam

Some of you may know the german V2 rocket. Even if it was a really brutal weapon, it lead to better rocket engineering, e.g. the americans reused the conquered rockets for scientific measurements of the atmosphere.

It was guided at start not by external control surfaces, but by graphene wings inside the engine.

Here or here are pictures of that ( Part No. 16 / jet vane). It would be an awesome part for better rocket-guiding at the start, and its more realistic (imho) than the SAS.

2) Better side boosters

If you e.g. look at the Ariane V, the boosters are cylindrical, but then lead to the main-tank, due to aerodynamic reasons. And they look very cool, also.

The other thing I want to suggest is a Wing-Editor. You maybe know the feel when you need a wing that is currently not available and you would have to use many different wings. A Wingdesigner could change this.

It could work like a graphic-design window, where you could paint the outline of the wing.

Then an Algorithm could calculate its weight, lift, etc.

So everyone could have the wings that they want.

Please tell me your opinion about these suggestions, I am open for any feedback.

P.S: Sorry that my english is not very good.

P.P.S: If you are a modder, you could add this, too.

Control surfaces in the rocket exhaust were superseded by gimballed nozzles, which are already implemented in a number of engines in the stock game.

I think there are nosecones in some mod packs that can give you the Ariane booster look.

Procedural Wings is a well-regarded mod that does what I think you are looking for in a wing editor.

Yes, but I want them to be freely placeable, and the gimbal is a little change in the degree of the steam.

Do you mean you want to be able to place them outside the engine nozzle? Or do you mean you'd like to be able to add control vanes to engines that don't gimbal?
