I have apergers. I am perfectly normal, because normal is what is common and it is common to be abnormal/different. I do not know whether it affects me much, only difference is sensitivity to some things and no social skills (but the good memory and different way of thinking is worth it, not sure if that has to do with aspergers though).

Anyone else besides me notice that this thread is over a year old?

I'm quite fine with this popping up again, I missed it the first around. I was. Diagnosed with aspergers when I was quite young, and had basically forgotten about it until about 6 months ago. Looking closely, I definitely see some aspects of it in me, but a far more influential trait is my ADHD.

However, they are both frontal lobe disorders, and the more I read about it, the more it becomes clear we still don't fully understand ADHD or ASD. I'm convinced that in te future, both terms will be superseded as we better come Yolo understand the brain.

Ultimately it is a spectrum. We're all just human beings who have certain traits which are a bit inconvenient/hindering in modern life. Like how others have allergies which inconvenience them when they interact with pollen, or the wrong food.

It needs to be another game. This is where KSP comes in. All he does when I show him the game is want to time warp and crash. He's definitely ADD about it without the hyperfocusing, so he's not getting the finer challenges of the game.

Firstly, are you sure it has to be another game? Sure There's not another interest that you could help him pursue? When I joined KSP, I practically jumped in head first, having had a lifetime interest in things astronomical. Making stuff crash in inventive ways can be fun, but if he's not getting into it, it might not be the thing for him.

I suggest playing sandbox to skip the tech tree grind, and watching some good youtubers to see what you can achieve in KSP, and how. But ultimately, If KSP doesn't interest him, there is no point forcing it.

I have apergers. I am perfectly normal, because normal is what is common and it is common to be abnormal/different.

You used one wrong premise and it lead to a faulty conclusion.

"Normal is what is common" - true, that is the definition of normal. Normal does not mean "good", "optimal" or "moral". It just means common - something that is seen in most cases.

"it's common to be abnormal/different" - this is in direct violation with the first premise. If something is abnormal, then it is not common. Therefore the conclusion that you're perfectly normal is not valid.

You claim to have Asperger's syndrome, an autistic disorder. That is not normal. People with autism disorders are very uncommon. Their small number and the fact it lowers the expected quality of life itself, makes it not a variation (like what being a lefthanded person is), but a disorder.

However that does not make you neccessarily bad person. Don't let people's faulty logic make you think that being abnormal in one aspect immediately makes you a douchebag. Maybe you are a douchebag, I really don't know, but that is not important here.

Until a few years back, I trained in a martial art.

One of the requirements of advancing in rank was to teach others. For some time I taught childeren and one kid had/has autism.

It's true that he needed a little more explaining than other kids and I needed a little more patience with him, but if nobody told me, I wouldn't have guessed he was autistic.

Like some people here have said, everyone is different and therefore makes no difference to me if they are diagnosed with anything or not. Everyone has the right to just be.
