Texturing problem - green tint

Recommended Posts

Edit: I think this has been partially resolved. Upon another inspection i realized that B9 actually uses .tga textures. So i tried .tga textures and they work. png doesn't!

Very strange. Has anyone else trouble with png textures?

See here

Somehow KSP does something to the colors. This is the texture file right from the GameData folder

Edit: I checked the B9 texture since they also use png. They appear all right. Grey texture looks grey in game. But i cannot find where the difference to my texture is which could cause the issue.

Cheers

I am also having tint issues with a texture. I am re-skinning an existing model tho. I am converting MBMs to raw then editing in photoshop. I am matching stock colors but when I use my texture I get a tint that looks worse then yours. What should Commandant Ace do?

.tga's with certain channels already switched during the conversion. .png's always give me "off colors". For example, if you take a FS part with a simple scheme, change it to .tga without actually doing anything else, you'll see that it no longer matches its friends in the VAB.

When ripping .mbm's, there's a critical step involving channel switching right after you do the hex edit...its been a long time since I did it though, I couldn't tell you off the top of my head.

probably something to do with conversion to DXT at load time. probably not much you can do other than compensating by adjust your colors by trial and error. B9 switched to PNGs a couple updates back... 0.25 doens't seem to like TGAs as much before, some TGA textures can't be found by the compiler even if it appears to have loaded correctly.

I'm getting this green tint problem on a 0.25 stock install on max detail, is that normal?

My understanding is that these splotches are compression artifacts, introduced during the load phase. I could be wrong, of course. But that only seems noticeable when you have relatively subtle color differentiation (if any), on mostly white or light grey surfaces.
