Option to Launch Tanks Empty and design a mission patch.

Recommended Posts

I wonder if it would be possible to have an option to set so tanks would be empty on liftoff to be refilled in orbit at a later time. It would be beneficial so less launches are needed for stations and lower the likelihood of Jeb making an "unscheduled orbital faceplant" due to the fuel weight snapping the rocket. By the way a design a mission patch screen would be cool as well.

Kasuha is 100% correct.

But have you thought about actually USING the fuel to get the tank in orbit and then re-fill it? This way you can launch the tank with a much smaller rocket, or launch a bigger tank (or perhaps two tanks) in a single launch.

Agreed, but somebody with a *tiny* bit of design skill can open up Photoshop or any freeware photo editing program, create a logo, and save it in the proper place to make it a mission flag. <<My forum avi here? It's the one I use in game as well.

I won't lie and say it isn't a pain in the butt/a fool's errand if you don't know what you're doing, but a GTA5-style crew logo editor seems quite unnecessary.

You can right-click the tank in VAB/SPH and pull the slider to whatever fuel level you want in it.

Thank you. I've got a 600 ton space station that I might actually get to orbit now. Defueled it is only 80 tons, doesn't collapse under it's own weight and survives launch. Time to start polishing it up for orbit. :)

Ahh good to know. Now time to get some stranded Kerbites home. Their rescue remote control pods entered duna orbit in the wrong direction. Gotta do a figure 8 around IKE to reverse their orbital direction.
