Proton to Duna

So this is my first mission report, so don't be too mean. I just decided to write up a story that goes along with my current mission.

Background: The Soviet and American kerbals have already landed on Mun. Next stop, Duna. This is the story of the Soviet Duna mission.

Sergei Kerman: I tell you, the N1 can get the job done.

Politburo: It is far to dangerous and just barely got us to Mun.

Sergei Kerman: We have worked out all of the problems. If you give my the go-ahead, we can have a mission heading to Duna within the next 2 years.

Politburo: Alright, but you have one chance. If your next N1 launch fails, we will cut funding and go with Vladmir Kerman's UR-500 Proton proposal.

Sergei Kerman: Alright, I wont fail.

The Next Month.

Sergei Kerman is ready to test his N1. All high ranking Soviet officers have come to see the launch.

Sergei: All systems are go, the N1 should lift off shortly.

Unfortunately for Sergei, all of the problems haven't been worked out.

This is what we can piece from the recordings:

The N1 with a large, orange test payload:

3 of the engines have failed:

Structural failure 10 seconds into flight:

And finally falling and blowing up:

The next day:

Politburo: Sergei, your N1 has failed for the last time, we are cutting funding.

Sergei: But...

Politburo: No buts, you are fired and should collect your items shortly. We will follow Vladimir Kermen's UR-500 Proton proposal.

Sergei Kerman died of depression later that week.
