Saturn V instrument unit as a science unit?

So I was looking at this one. Since I like to say everything in short, here we go:

Replace the (pretty useless) ASAS ring (this one Advanced_sas_module_large.jpg ) and make it a science unit?

It could act as a material bay, just for larger ships!

Also, why do we need two inline reaction wheels that act the same but one weighs more than other one?

I think the 2.5 m ASAS unit is far from useless. It is even lighter than the 1.25 m one and provides the same torque.

But 2.5 m materials bay or some combined science unit (goo + materials) would be nice as a separate part.

Current materials bay is way too big :)
