Modifying Planets/Orbits

Recommended Posts

I would really like to try out writing plugins. I write C# for a living so that doesn't scare me. And I have started to wade through KSP and Unity documentation. I would like to get a sense if what I want is possible.

My primary goal would is to have CelestialBody have 2 different gravity parameters. One that is the "true" gravity that actually controls all vessels, and the "believed" gravity which would be used when display the "expected" orbits. So essentially I would just want a second parameter (or set of parameters) that is only used when drawing the orbital lines of all orbiting objects.

Is this possible?

What would I need to do to accomplish it?

Can I override the base KSP classes? If so how?

Are there any current mods with code that might do something similar?

Much thanks ahead of time for any help!
