I got them rescued, thanks for help! (such adventure)

Well you could fix it with the cheat menu (alt F12) to turn on infinite EVA fuel/infitine rocket fuel.

It is extremely difficult to save a kerbalnaut without EVA fuel.

For the future, I'd suggest always quicksaving before doing such stunts

Yeah, that's a difficult one. Here's my initial take on how to approach this.

1. I think it's going to be difficult if not impossible to get a rescue craft to them while still in Kerbin SOI. So you're probably looking at a rescue ship capable of intercepting them in Kerbol orbit.

2. I'd have your rescue craft be light, and extremely maneuverable. RCS, SAS, and efficient thrust are going to be essential. After you pick up the crew, that portion of the rescue craft really only needs enough fuel to get back to Kerbin.

3. I've never tried to capture a Kerbonaut with a dead RCS tank. I'm thinking I would put a LOT of extendible ladders on my rescue craft, and extend them all as you get close to your floating crew. That would increase the odds of getting a "Grab" message.

4. Make sure all the ladders lead to a path to an entry point, because you still can't RCS over to an entry hatch.

5. Seems obvious, but make sure your rescue craft has ROOM for your two floating crew. Maybe use the 3 man pod, with only one seat occupied. Or even a couple of external command seats. Forgetting to leave two seats empty at launch is exactly the sort of thing I would be likely to do. And then not realize it until I captured my crew...

If would be a cheater,I wouldn't ask such a question :)

Well,I have a quicksave, but I've been in even harder situations than this one,so I don't want to miss the fun.

I just need an advice in what way should I do it

Should I try to catch them while they're still in kerbin or when they're in the kerbol orbit?

Try for in Kerbins SOI.

I've only done this once, and it did work, but I got it done just as I was leaving the SOI and then I had to burn like hell to get back to Kerbin (which is why you should use a nuke and take pretty much nothing but fuel)

I'm going to test it out.

Maybe I can finally find an use for my hyper speed rescue craft...

Time to tune up some action music!

The good news is your crew can float for a very long time. Which may be required once they leave Kerbin orbit.

I have to admit, this is a very interesting challenge. I'm now thinking of intentionally putting a crewmember in a similar predicament, and see if I can recover. I'll be curious how your adventure turns out, please let us know..

Recommend saving wherever it's convenient to give yourself a chance to try out several different options. Then you can be the expert in rescuing kerbals slinging through Kerbin's SOI. :D

Anyway, here's an idea that may help capture them. This is all stock, except for the inclusion of MechJeb which is not required. The idea is a little probe with a claw attached. You could increase the number of claw points to provide a better cargo hold for the kerbals. Or attach seats somewhere on the probe for them to sit in once captured in the claw.

The probe has roughly 6000 dV, so it might be enough to accelerate for a rejoin, capture, then decelerate to stay in Kerbin orbit. Then you could fly a follow on mission with empty capsules (or more EVA friends) to actually pick them up.

Send two probes and you might be able to rescue the craft too.

I actually have an idea to send one screenshot to Rareden, where 2 kerbals try to seek each others hand, but can't (like in Gravity). But daaaamn...That's an interesting challenge!

I agree, I'm actually a bit curious to have the save file and give this a try. I enjoy tasks like this. :D

Haha, thanks! It was for another challenge.

I'm going out to test my luck.

this dude with 18k delta V (excluding the take off part) should be able to rescue them.I hope.

I really hope it is possible.

See you guys later

By the way,the cage on top contains external seats

Ladders are a terrible idea everybody.

Like I said, external command seats. Why? You don't have to touch them, just get within a few meters and right click on them and you can board.

Agreed on the ladders. I find them too finicky when trying to grab onto, especially without using EVA fuel.

If I was going to try this as a challenge, I think my first attempt would be with a caged probe (like what I posted) that has seats on it. Gently scoop up the kerbal, then get him into the seat. The cage might help keep them from bouncing off while rejoining/switching and allow for a little less precision.

I will surely take screenshots.

Everything is going well currently...

By the way, there's a damn strong wind outside,so that my lights are blinking :D

UPDATE: I have all 3 kerbals and still alot of fuel!

Congrats. How did you end up doing it?

Well,I just rendezvous(ed?) with them, and that's it.There was a cage like thing on top,so it was easy to pick up kerbals so that they could sit in the external seats

Good job, got any pics to share?

Scroll up!

well,a bonus:
