How do I make my Mun Base lag less?

Recommended Posts

So I've been playing KSP for 2 months now. And all I can say is that it is awesome. Also, I registered yesterday. :)

I've been building myself a Mun base on the Mun by using Temstar's Modular Base Creation Kit from here:

http://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/threads/50685-Modular-Base-Creation-Kit

and it gets laggy once I dock 2-5 more parts of the Base.

How do I reduce the lag?

And another question: Why can't I use an avatar?

There are a few things you can do:

Reduce your game settings

wipe any debris you might have floating around in your save

If you aren't too attached to that base pack, then you can redesign it with fewer parts.

Apart from that you can get yourself a pc with a better processor

Lots of parts results in lag, that's just how it is unfortunatly

You can try the welder mod, which allows you to weld multiple parts tougether, to reduce part count

Can I have the link, good sir?

My computer can run KSP on everything high.

But with the docked parts and stuff, kills 3/4 of my FPS, causing me to lag immensely. So I reduced them.

Also my processor is an Intel i3 3220 (3.3 ghz).

Not sure, it's a feature of the forums. Maybe you have to be registered for a certain time or make a certain number of posts before it's permitted?

Oh, okay. Thanks for answering my question.

Besides the welding mods, IIRC you can tweak the savefile to disable the docking capability on specific docking ports. Disabling the ones you don't plan on disconnecting again can improve performance.

How do I do it? Also, I've installed the mod. I don't see the "Weld it!" button anywhere.

I'm pretty sure that the mod is sortof broken for .23, as in it has alot of things not working. But some people have made small temproary fixes, i'll try to find one.

try these, they may work. Also, in the op it says that there is a way to edit the config files so that the position of the weld-it button is changed, yours may be off-screen.

Hope this is helpful :)

Thank you sir! There's some issues with them like my game lagging after welding all of the parts together as an example.
