latest Unity version available?

After missing several versions, I decided to updated to Unity 4.3.4, but I find that Animation is no longer what I know, and it seems that KSP could not understand it too...

So I think I could back to a older version that works?

I really don't understand why so much people who've known & worked with old unity version always complain with anim

It's works with KSP, there are some UI changes, but if you've learned only where to click without knowing what you really do, you'll be stuck with 4.2.2 forever.

Unity have a (too) light documentation which may help.

The only problem I've had with Unity 4.3 was when I tried setting up emissive animations. KSP simply wouldn't accept them. I don't know if there's a way to work around that, but for now I would recommend sticking with 4.2.2. Even if 4.3 works for most things, or you can find workarounds, it's not officially supported by KSP.

It would be nice though, if the latest supported version was listed somewhere prominent, maybe in the part tools thread.

Modders download the Unity package to transform their .blend/.fbx/lightwave/maya/3ds files into the required .mu files (and internal hierarchy) so that KSP will load them

If you upgraded your Unity package from 4.2.2 to 4.3 or above you can no longer create certain animation types inside Unity (e.g. Animated emissives, such as for engine heating) and have KSP be able to load them

Importing externally created animations into Unity 4.3.x is slightly different than it was under 4.2.2, but still functional

Are you having trouble with in-Unity created animation or an externally created imported animation?

I'm having the same problem. I'm using Unity 4.3.4 to create parts with emissive animations, and they're displaying properly in Unity, but not in KSP. I've read a lot of people saying fall back to Unity 4.2.2, but when I try to use that version, it crashes every time I try to import an asset. 4.3.x are the only versions of Unity that are stable for me...

Is there a work-around for Unity-created animations, or am I SOL?

Thanks!

It seems that Unity 4.3.4 has changed the way animations are handled.

I read somewhere that if one enables "legacy" mode, your existing emissives can be animated, but aside from deleting them, you can't really edit said animations.

I've documented the headache I went through trying to get emissive textures working, feel free to read through it, but the solution is to use Unity 4.2. Thanks again DMagic.

I start thinking to say a big thanks for this good attitude, but after reading, I got an headache too trying to find the so called solution highlighted in your quote above, your post is pretty confuse and unclear. And adding:

I just wanted to bump this so everyone who is having the same problem can see straight away that it has been solved.

appears worth than selfish people who just wrote "pb solved, thanks".

Is there some specific problem you're having? Did you not see the section marked "solution" in his emissive textures thread that linked to the emissive tutorial with a detailed walk-through of how to set up the animations?

I just read the text and don't think to much of that "solution" before problem 2 text, thanks to the headache

English obviously isn't your first language, and I don't see where you're getting confused. Reading through my thread and the linked emissive tutorial thread should make it clear that the changes made in Unity 4.3 broke emissive animations for KSP/part tools. You can see that when DMagic suggested using Unity 4.2, It "magically" worked (no pun intended). It wasn't because I was doing it wrong in Unity as you might suggest, because the animation was working fine in Unity. The short answer, at the moment, is that if you are having problems with emissive textures/animations then you need to us Unity 4.2.

I don't see how making a post that would make it easier on everyone who was following that thread at the time aware that the solution had been found is selfish at all. I'm curious, what could one even do on a forum that is really self serving anyways?... There isn't really anything to gain as I see it.
