THE FLYING SAUCER CHALLENGE

Once again the scientists at the Inventing Room at KSC have thought of a new way to torture poor little Kerbals - to put them into a flying saucer. Jeb was very happy of the idea. But once again, KSC ran out of engineers...

RULES

Mods must be specified. No HyperEdit and MechJeb, but anything else that is non-cheaty is allowed.

All craft must look aerodynamic.

You must build a flying saucer that is capable of flight for more than 2 minutes and can use any type of propulsion. Escape systems with parachutes are permitted as long as evidence of non-parachute landing capability is given. This means that the craft must be capable of landing safely.

POINTS

+5 points per every crew member; although, unmanned vessels are accepted. External command seats are allowed for small vehicles; for high speeds windshields must be provided.

- +10 points per every crew member from the 4th onwards.

+1 point for every 10th of a ton that can be transported and is not necessary for flight (e.g. 16 points for 1.6 tons of fuel that is not used).

- +20 points per every vehicle (parasite fighter, rover, air launch rocket, etc...) that can be transported.

+10 points per every unit of weapon.

- +30 points if a precise target can be hit.

+1 point per every kilometre of range.

+1 point per every half a kilometre of maximum altitude.

+30 points if can reach space.

+50 points per every other planetary body that can be visited and returned from.

+30 points if an escape system is installed.

Your point system seems straight forward, but I'm unclear what the overall goal is.

Is something like this what you have in mind? (It's from another challenge, but is flying saucer looking...)

Javascript is disabled. View full album

Up to 8 crew: 4x5 + 4x10 = 60 points

Cargo 2.6t: = 2.6x10x1 = 26 points

No weapons, unless you count the RCS tanks as bombs. Then 10x8 = 80 points

Range: It can go around Kerbin 3 times and it wasn't even full of gas (something like 11,300km) = 11,300 points?

Altitude: It went to Minmus...

Reach Space: Yep, +30

Other Body: If Minmus counts, +30 (unless you mean another actual planet)

No escape system

It went to Minmus so I have no idea how you want that factored into Range and Altitude...

So there might be some gaps in your scoring system. Unless you can be a little more clear with your vision of what kind of craft you want.

THE FLYING SAUCER CHALLENGE

+1 point per every kilometre of range.

+1 point per every half a kilometre of maximum altitude.

I think you should reconsider theese points. After all. if you make a craft that you stick on an kerbol escape trajectory your score will be infinite. Since you will travel an "infinite" amount of kilometres. Your altiude over kerbin will be quite high too.
