Editor cleaning and Asteroid belts.

Recommended Posts

Editor:

I think under the main tabs there should be 2 more things;

  1. Secondary Tabs

These would be secondary tabs, so people with lots of mods dont have to browse 18 pages. Like in the "Fuel" tab you would have a:

Mini size tab, 1m tab etc. The mods should then either be in their own mod tabs or in the stock tabs.

  • Search bar

Self explanatory, you search for the parts

Another thing in the editor should be:

You can favorite parts and they will display in a "favorite" tab. You can also create your own tab and add parts into it.

Asteroid belts: Randomly generated, pretty much self explanatory though.

For your first two points, there is already a mod that handles both of those things (I forgot what it was called, sorry :sealed:)

For the third point, I think that the subassemblies tab handles that function very well.

But hey, that's just my two cents!

I think when talking about the editor GUI, there's a much more important problem.

We need a better craft loading dialog.

Seriously, the current one is bad. Its a tiny window with a simple list. It might be usable as long as you don't have more than 10 different crafts or so, but once you play for a while, it gets really, really messy.

Even more so if you use mods. Up until a few versions ago, you'd never know which crafts might have become unusable (due to missing parts) by the latest game or mod updates until you actually tried to load them. This has been changed, but now it's even worse: ships are marked as unusable in the list, but there's no longer a way to find out which parts are actually missing.

The loading dialogue should be reworked, perhaps similarly to the launch dialogues that open up if you click the launchpad or runway from the space center overview. It should open in a larger window, and more compact rows. It should show the infotext to a craft. It should be possible to see a list of unloadable parts on a ship. Choosing whether they're ordered by name or by date would be useful. So would a search function. And finally, a way to organize them into folders would be nice; that would make it possible to group together different versions of a craft, or different crafts used for one mission.
