In-Game Advertising

I think that to get some extra money in-game, you should able to accept advertising deals from companies like Kerbal Kola or Rockomax. For example, on a flight you accepted a deal for, all flags from that mission are replaced with the company's symbol. All decals on the command pod are also replaced with the same symbol.

Accepting advertising deals should give money in return for a small amount of reputation, because some Kerbals may believe you are selling out.

In real world, part manufacturers don't need such kind of advertising. There's whole lot of companies supplying parts for NASA yet I don't remember them advertising on NASA rockets. Same for SpaceX, if we move to commercial sphere, they also don't manufacture everything.

companies dont advert in space because the foot traffic is ridiculously low. plus it would be cheaper to photoshop it into the pics that get sent back. unless you go the dilbert route and have a giant flying banner the size of New Zealand in orbit.

Its not the real world , its a game, on a fictional planet with little green/yellow people.

I like the added mechanic of adds on rockets to generate extra revenue. You could also make them weigh a significant amount to offset their gains some.

Well now, no, but....

The first moon landing was watched by almost everyone on the planet. I can't imagine how you could generate higher foot traffic than that...

Only the most prominent branding I can think of; Rockwell, Boeing, GD, and others had logos on craft too.

I'm not really for putting logos/decals onto rockets (unless we do it ourselves, of course), but it could be funny to carry or set up advertising billboards as part of a contract. It seems to me that Kerbal CEOs would authorize outrageous publicity stunts like orbiting billboards that require telescopes to see.

Might be a little too silly for what KSP is going for, and doesn't leave much room for designing your own mission around it, but I don't know. Could be fun.

Better yet, there could be a file like ScienceDefs.CFG, and you could add other companies that could offer to advertise, with custom dialogues.
